Overview
Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll accounting. Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure compliance with GAAP, GASB, and institutional accounting policies. Manage year-end close processes and coordinate external audit activities.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee day‑to‑day accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll accounting.
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, GASB, and institutional accounting policies.
- Manage year‑end close processes and coordinate external audit activities.
- Assist leadership with annual budget development and forecasting.
- Monitor departmental budgets; provide variance analysis and financial insights to campus stakeholders.
- Support grant and restricted fund accounting, ensuring proper tracking and reporting.
- Maintain and strengthen internal control systems to protect institutional assets.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including Title IV and other higher‑education funding requirements.
- Develop and update accounting policies and procedures in alignment with institutional goals.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate accounting staff; support training and professional development.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for financial inquiries from academic and administrative departments.
- Promote a culture of customer service, accuracy, and accountability within the Finance Office.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting and finance experience in a higher‑education environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, and audit processes.
