Primary Purpose of Position

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Business Systems Analyst in the application, development and analysis functions of the Financial Aid Department's technology and application systems. Assist with business processes to meet end user requirements and Federal, State, District, local, and department regulatory mandates, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Assists with the use of financial aid databases and applications;

tests and maintains data analysis and reporting programs to enhance and reporting requirements and data tracking needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of the Banner Student module as it relates to Financial Aid.
  • Ability to execute Argos Reports or standard reports with accuracy and troubleshoot functional system problems and coordinate solutions.
  • Demonstrates and applies an understanding of general skills and practices associated with Financial Aid and Department of Education Systems.
  • Demonstrates the ability to develop solutions to meet the needs of the group.
  • Demonstrates ability to develop project/solutions with regards to Banner and Financial Aid.
  • Troubleshoots, updates, modifies, and analyzes information systems to ensure compliance with regulatory needs and changes.
  • Proficient in the use of university and Department of Education applications (Banner, Argos, COD) or automated systems to perform job duties.
  • Complies with related policies, procedures, and work rules to maintain system security and data integrity.
  • Resolves non‑routine problems and applies technical understanding to the resolution of problems of medium complexity.
  • Spot trends in recurring problems and assists in developing solutions.
  • Respectfully ascertains customer’s needs and determines appropriate response.
  • Promptly responds by providing requested information, takes appropriate action, or refers customer to appropriate individual or department and advises customers of realistic time frames for a response to their request.
  • Follows up with customers on outstanding requests in a timely manner.
  • Tactfully explains to customers why their needs and/or expectations cannot be met if the university does not provide the requested information or services.
  • Communicates with all students, staff and customers as needed to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns.
  • Maintains strong attention to detail and documentation habits.
  • Communicates oral and written clearly any pertinent technical problems/issues with the administration of Federal Student Aid.
  • Has a thorough knowledge of financial aid functions and activities to explain in detail what is happening, why, and how to resolve problems.
  • Ensures successful storage and retrieval of data across a variety of campus systems; ensures financial aid systems interface with other campus systems.
  • Perfects and retains Banner data storage plan for all Department of Education Files.
  • Demonstrates effective management and organizational talents and sets priorities within the context of established policies and procedures.
  • Applies problem‑solving skills and projects a favorable impression of the University and the division to a multitude of constituencies.
  • Follows procedures and escalates appropriately.
