Manager of Investment Accounting

Our client, a fast‑growing insurance start‑up in Durham, NC, is seeking a Manager of Investment Accounting to join their investment accounting team.

Must be eligible to work in the United States; sponsorship not available.

• Senior investment accountant in current role (or manager of investment accountant level)
• Experience in accounting within insurance or financial services
• BA/BS in business, finance, accounting, math, economics, or related field
• Strong experience with asset classes in investment accounting
• Financial services industry experience (e Wyn insurance company, financial services, public accounting with financial services clients)
• Operational aspects – custody banks, data involved on ratings/pricing
• Experience working with accounting products such as bonds, stocks, securities
• Eye for automation and technology
• Solid Excel experience
• Financial modeling experience

• MBA/CPA/CFA preferred
• Experience with Clearwater platform

• Provide accounting/financial reporting support for the investment portfolio.

• Report to the Director of Investment Accounting. Work hybrid in Durham.

• Manage pricing, data flows between Clearwater and asset manager, and financial reporting processes.

• Reconcile Clearwater against banking records monthly, complete quarterly investment schedules for financial reporting, review/implement new accounting guidance, onboard new asset classes/portfolios.
