Hours: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Position eligible for a $5,000 sign‑on bonus. This position is eligible for a one-time $5,000 sign‑on bonus that will be paid upon successful completion of the new hire’s six‑month probationary period. Internal promotional/transfer hires are not eligible.

Devoted to providing professional civil engineering design, contracting support, and construction oversight for a variety of Public Works’ Capital Improvement Program (CIP) stormwater infrastructure projects including roadway, water, and sewer. Incumbents perform entry‑level professional engineering work performing design calculations, developing construction drawings, and acquiring permits. Work requires independent evaluation and analysis of issues and the exercise of judgment, education, and experience to select and apply criteria to resolve problems and make recommendations.
Decision‑making includes selecting the method to address a problem or issue, subject to the constraints established by City guidelines, management objectives and direction. Incumbents will assist with contract development and construction project management.
This position will work in the Stormwater Infrastructure Group of Public Works and primarily be responsible for planning, design and engineering of stormwater conveyance systems, permitting, assisting with the contract bidding process, and oversight of construction and professional services projects. Requires a solid understanding of hydrology and hydraulics analysis and AutoCAD Civil 3D to fulfill responsibilities. Other duties include providing administrative or technical support to staff, responding to citizen questions, coordinating projects with stakeholders and/or regulatory agencies, attending meetings on projects with internal and external customers, and developing engineering skill sets.
Work is performed under the direct supervision of a registered licensed professional.
- Investigates stormwater infrastructure system issues by reviewing historical data, conducting field inspections, meeting with residents and stakeholders, and reviewing video inspections and photos.
- Develops project scope, researches design options and cost analysis, and communicates prospective plans with residents and stakeholders. Performs design and permitting, and produces construction drawings for Capital Improvement Projects.
- Assists with performing project coordination, project management, and contract administration; develops cost estimates; creates project manuals and documentation; coordinates project bidding processes; evaluates project risk and takes action to mitigate risks; reviews submittals, and ensures projects are on schedule, within assigned budgets, and comply with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Plans, designs, oversees construction for stormwater infrastructure improvement projects; reviews, prepares, updates, and communicates plans, drawings, concepts, and permits; conducts field inspections; assesses and evaluates project plans and construction; calculates costs; and ensures plans and construction comply with applicable requirements, standards, policies, and procedures.
