Eng-IT-Industrial Engineer

Location:

Durham, NC
Status: month contract % on site

Overview

An Industrial Engineer (IE) is responsible for outlining and designing production layouts and processes to maximize productivity, eliminate waste, and reduce costs while ensuring quality standards. Once a part of the team, you will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks within the Industrial Engineering Department in a production environment. The Industrial Engineer will analyze production processes, implement lean manufacturing principles, and drive continuous improvement initiatives while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality output.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Analyze and evaluate current systems and processes to locate any inefficiencies for improvements.
  • Design and implement efficient systems for material flow, information, energy, and logistics to optimize production.
  • Utilize statistical methods and performing mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff, requirements, and production standards.
  • Collaborate with management and clients to develop and implement plans for facility layout, equipment, and workforce utilization.
  • Oversee quality control and assurance programs and establishing process controls.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot production issues and formulate solutions.
  • Implement and execute safety procedures and protocols to comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Train production staff on new processes and provide guidance on technical issues.
  • Lead process improvement projects and manage timelines and resources.
  • Conduct data analysis to drive decision-making.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Advanced knowledge of production machinery, processes, and standards.
  • Strong organizational skills for planning, multitasking, and managing time effectively.
  • Project management skills.
  • Data analytics skills and experience.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Science, or Business preferred.
  • Three () to five () years of experience as an Industrial Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
  • Six Sigma Certification is preferred.
