Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

Overview

Kelly® is seeking an experienced EHS Specialist to join a top chemical company in the Durham, NC area. This is an exciting opportunity to support a leading organization’s commitment to safety, compliance, and regulatory excellence!

• Manage the maintenance and implementation of safety programs, compliance plans, and initiatives.
• Participate in incident, near-miss, and property damage investigations, ensuring appropriate follow-up and documentation.
• Conduct, coordinate, and track various EHS training programs.
• Perform routine safety observations to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and company EHS policies and procedures.
• Maintain internal and external regulatory reporting, including air, stormwater, and surface water discharge data.
• Serve as primary contact for regulatory agencies regarding inspections, permitting, and reporting (air, water, waste).
• Ensure company compliance with OSHA, CAL/OSHA, EPA, AQMD, ADA, fire codes, and all applicable regulations.
• Maintain compliance with permits, government regulations and industry best practices.
• Stay current on all safety and environmental regulatory changes that may impact the organization.

• Bachelor’s degree required; BS in Occupational Health and Safety or related field preferred.
• 1–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with EHS responsibility.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to work off-hours or be on-call as needed.
• Demonstrated independent work ethic, attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working with local regulatory agencies preferred.
• Familiarity with various emission control devices to ensure compliance.
