Piper Companies is seeking an Overnight Automation Support Engineer (Parenteral—Optima Focus) to join a global leader in pharmaceutical manufacturing for a 12-month contract position based on‑site in Durham, NC
. The Overnight Automation Support Engineer (Parenteral—Optima Focus) will work a 12‑hour night shift (6 PM–6 AM) on a 2‑2‑3 rotation schedule and serve as the overnight technical lead for parenteral drug product lines, with a primary focus on Optima filling equipment, ensuring compliance with cGMP and aseptic standards.
- Lead real‑time troubleshooting for filling (Optima), formulation, autoclaves, and inspection equipment.
- Utilize Rockwell Automation tools (PLC/HMI) to interpret alarms, trends, and system states; determine containment versus escalation.
- Coordinate with maintenance and operations teams; produce accurate and detailed handover reports.
- Support qualification and commissioning handoff for new lines, including upcoming projects.
- Track recurring issues and propose continuous improvement initiatives for both quick wins and long‑term solutions.
- Strong automation background with expertise in PLC, HMI, and Rockwell Automation (Allen Bradley) systems.
- 2–3+ years of experience in manufacturing or process environments, preferably in high‑compliance settings.
- Demonstrated ability in root cause analysis, structured triage, and hands‑on troubleshooting.
- Ability to work a 2‑2‑3 night rotation (6 PM–6 AM) for 12–24 months.
- Familiarity with SCADA/MES/historian systems and aseptic behaviors; experience with parenteral filling equipment is a plus.
Salary Range: $100,000-$135,000/year (USD)
