Position: TENURE-TRACK ANATOMY FACULTY POSITION, OPEN RANK

Position Overview

This tenure-track position is anticipated to include 50-55% effort for teaching, 40-45% for research, and 5% for service. The successful candidate is expected to fully participate in teaching comparative anatomy to veterinary students and assume responsibility for laboratory instruction and associated assessments of student learning. While focused on anatomy instruction, this position will be part of the Form and Function Thread (a multi-semester course series) that includes comparative anatomy, histology/microanatomy, physiology, and pathology.

This position will collaborate with content experts in these areas and/or contribute to instruction in these areas based on the successful candidate's background and qualifications. The successful candidate is expected to lead the continued development and delivery of the DVM curriculum. Additionally, the candidate is expected to grow a nationally recognized research program, obtain extramural funding, and publish in peer-reviewed journals.

Collaborations will be encouraged, as will the training of graduate students. Finally, the candidate is expected to participate in department, college, and university committees as well as in national and/or international organizations.

Qualifications

Requires a doctorate degree (DVM, PhD or an equivalent degree), or equivalent professional experience. Rank will be awarded based on qualifications and experience.

  • DVM with Board Certification in a relevant specialty (e.g., Surgery, Pathology, Medicine, Imaging) or a PhD in a related biological science.
  • Proven track record of teaching anatomy, histology/microanatomy, or physiology within a DVM or medical curriculum.
  • Advanced degree (MS) or certificate in education, with a strong focus on curricular development and pedagogical excellence.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to thrive in a collegial, team-oriented academic environment.
  • Deep commitment to teaching excellence and a drive to ensure “Day One Competence” for veterinary graduates.
