Adjunct instructor, HVAC

Do Great Things! Durham Technical Community College is hiring an adjunct instructor of HVAC in the Industrial Systems Technology Program. The adjunct instructor will be preparing and delivering courses, teaching all assigned courses, upholding academic policies, and taking responsibility for classroom preparation and maintenance. Completing mandatory training is also required.

* The adjunct instructor is responsible for course preparation, delivery, grading, and records management.

* Teach all courses as assigned for the full duration of scheduled instruction

* Enforce academic policy and procedures, comply with institutional rules and regulations.

* Assume responsibility for off-site/classroom prep, including maintenance and clean-up, as all shop spaces are shared with other instructors.

* Must complete mandatory training.

Must meet one or more of the qualifications below:

* Mechanical License

* Associate degree from accredited institution in HVAC/AHR technology

* 5 years of experience working in HVAC industry with CFC Universal certification

* Knowledge of HVAC systems, how to trouble shoot, repair, and maintain them

* Ability to develop projects for students to learn HVAC systems in addition to share demonstrations to assist in their learning process.

* Evidence of strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills

* Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

* Ability to think creatively and put ideas into action.

* PC literate

* Personal integrity, honesty, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

* Understanding of the mission, goals, and objectives of a community college.

Working Hours:

Specific work hours are to be determined by the scheduled class hours and by consultation with the supervisor. Hours are not guaranteed but are based on student enrollment and faculty needs.
