Position: 2026 Summer Instructional Assistant

Overview

Six-Week Position, 6/15 - 7/24

  • Training Week: 6/15-6/18 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Program Weeks: 6/22-7/24, not in session 7/3, 7:50 AM – 1:50 PM

During Hill’s Summer Program, a collaborative team of educators comes together for six weeks to learn and build the confidence and skills of students who need academic support. Instructional assistants (IAs) play a critical role in supporting the students, faculty, and staff throughout the program and, in turn, receive valuable professional development and hands-on experience working with students with learning differences.

Before students arrive, summer IAs engage in online, asynchronous learning, as well as a four-day training and prep week. Once the five-week academic program begins, IAs are responsible for substituting in classrooms; working 1:1 with students; assisting with academic and non-academic program activities; attending faculty meetings and other related events, including an evening Open House; supervising students outside of the classroom (arrival, breaks, dismissal, etc.);

organizing activities and supervising students for the Summer Plus extended day option from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm; and supporting faculty and summer admin with other program needs.

The Summer Instructional Assistant position is a paid opportunity for current undergraduate/graduate students and newly licensed teachers. Compensation is commensurate with experience, starting at $15/hour.

Experience working with students in an educational environment and who have experience working with students with learning differences is preferred.
