Function of Organizational Unit
The Julius L. Chambers Biomedical/Biotechnology Research Institute (BBRI) is a 40,000 sq. ft. state‑of‑the‑art research facility that is dedicated to expanding the University’s research capacity, particularly in the biomedical and biotechnology areas. The BBRI is a broad based multi‑disciplinary research and training institute. The mission of the BBRI is to conduct multidisciplinary and inter‑institutional research focused on health issues that disproportionately affect minority and underserved groups while providing students with research experiences that will enhance their access to careers in the biomedical sciences.
PrimaryPurpose of Position
The Julius L. Chambers Biomedical and Biotechnological Research Institute (JLC‑BBRI) invites applicants to apply to a tenure‑track faculty position (Assistant or Associate level) in conjunction with the Biological and Biomedical Sciences Department (BBSD). The ideal candidate will be able to establish an extramurally funded research program in their area of specialization that will support research in the JLC‑BBRI and provide training opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students.
The institute’s current focal research program includes neuroscience, cancer biology, microbiology, and nutritional science. Because this appointment is in collaboration with the BBSD, in addition to the aforementioned research responsibilities, the candidate will be expected to excel as an educator teaching core and elective courses in biological and biomedical sciences to undergraduate and graduate students, and to participate in institute, departmental, college, and university service as well as professional service.

- Excellent research and analytical skills as evidenced by postdoctoral experience (at least 3 years), publication, and grants skills.
