The University College provides academic support services to first- and second-year students, guiding them through transition to university. Services include Academic Advising, Academic Success Coaching, Tutoring, Supplemental Learning, and more, with an emphasis on timely graduation and holistic development.
Primary Purpose of PositionThe Academic Advisor provides advisement to University College constituents (first year students, sophomores, and transfer students) via one‑on‑one meetings, workshops, and presentations covering majors, degree requirements, academic progress, and course selection. The role assesses individual student situations, implements and monitors academic progression, retention, and holistic development, and collaborates with internal/external organizations to meet student needs.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Familiarity with and appreciation for NCCU programs and curricula.
• Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with students, supervisors, and colleagues.
Master’s degree in education, counseling, or a related field, with 3 to 5 years’ experience in higher education. Excellent advising experience preferred.
