The PositionThe Scheduler position creates and maintains project schedules for design and construction projects of varying size and complexity. This role supports the Project Management and Construction groups to ensure project success. The scheduler works with the project teams to create baseline schedules, and then monitors and tracks progress. The scheduler provides analysis and communicates findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
This is a full-time, permanent position and could alternate between our HQ office located in Durham, NC, and client locations.
Responsibilities- Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and other pertinent design information and reports.
- Independently develop comprehensive baseline schedules based on contract documents and company standards.
- Update schedules on a regular basis to document actual progress and events, based on reviewing project documentation, discussion with site superintendents, and “walking the job”.
- Evaluate project progress relative to baselines and provide analysis of risks, trends, and performance; variances between planned work and actual progress; and identify necessary follow-up actions and recommendations.
- Work collaboratively with the project team to prepare recovery schedules when necessary.
- Has experience in modifying schedules to incorporate changed conditions, evaluating impacts of potential changes, and providing time impact analysis.
- Evaluate baseline schedules prepared by others. Evaluate compliance with contract requirements, scheduling specifications, and adherence to best practices.
- Familiar with typical construction documentation and able to extract relevant schedule information from contract documents and project records.
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or other technical field, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3–5 years in scheduling or project controls
- Industry knowledge and understanding of typical construction trade sequencing for both ground‑up construction and renovations
- Experience in evaluating construction logistics, site utilization, and considerations specific to phased projects and/or working in occupied facilities
- Thorough understanding of construction scheduling principles and best practices in use of scheduling software
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Proficient in Primavera P6 software
- Familiarity with systems and equipment typical of life science and health care facilities
- AACE Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP) or equivalent preferred
- Activities include extended periods of sitting, movement, and extensive work at a computer and phone
- May be exposed to dirt, dust, uneven surfaces, outdoor weather conditions and extreme temperatures while visiting construction jobsites
- Must be able to traverse and inspect areas of job sites in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, or bending
