General Summary

The Estimator has responsibility for estimating the full scope of infrastructure projects (including NC Department of Transportation (“NCDOT”), municipalities and commercial customers), and negotiating the pricing and changes in the scope and scale of work. Additional responsibilities include meeting with current customers and venders and soliciting new clients. The position receives guidance with respect to general objectives. This job description provides an overview of responsibilities and task to be performed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


• Complies with all safety policies, procedures, established safe practices, and ensures that all employees reporting to you do the same. Reports all unsafe conditions and actions to a supervisor and/or the Manager Safety and Health.
• Monitors the safety practices (including PPE) of all team members and proactively addresses deficits.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area and meets other housekeeping needs as required by Sunrock, MSHA 30 CFR 56.20003, and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.22
• Identify factors affecting costs, such as production time, materials, and labor.
• Read blueprints and technical documents in order to prepare estimates.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients, and contractors.
• Calculate, analyze, and adjust estimates.
• Recommend ways to reduce costs.
• Work with sales teams to prepare estimates and bids for clients.
• Maintain records of estimated and actual costs.
• Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
• Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
• Performs other duties assigned.


Education and/or Experience


Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or three (3) years of related experience preferred. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Current North Carolina Driver’s License required
