Applicants applying to this posting are entering an applicant pool for temporary administrative support staff positions across campus. Positions in this banded class are characterized by their performance of a variety of administrative, secretarial, and office support duties. Positions require knowledge of the office or work unit policies and procedures in order to communicate information involving programs, functions, and services.
Responsibilities- Duties may include preparation of documents and reports, use of office technology, compiling records, organizing and maintaining files, posting information, greeting/referring/assisting visitors/clients/staff/others, mail distribution, and photocopying.
- The completion of work often involves a public contact role to obtain, clarify, or provide information regarding the activities of the work unit or program.
- Positions may serve as the primary staff assistant to a department or program manager.
- Successful candidates must possess exceptional interpersonal skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of individuals.
- Working knowledge of telephone and customer service etiquette.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision and to take initiative and see a project through.
- Ability to work well under pressure, adhere to deadlines, and be flexible.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Good judgment and discretion when assisting customers.
- Excellent editing and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Publisher).
- Analytical and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work.
- Typing proficiency to complete 60 wpm with accuracy.
- Organizational and problem-solving skills.
Work Hours:
Monday–Friday, 8 am–5 pm. Equal Opportunity Employer.
