What Makes This Role Different
Gateway Building Company is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk - Receivables to support the day-to-day financial operations of the organization with a primary focus on billing, collections, and receivables management.
This role plays an important part in ensuring invoices are issued accurately, payments are applied correctly, and financial records remain organized and reliable. The Accounts Receivable Specialist works closely with the Controller and Project Managers to support project billing, maintain customer records, and assist with month-end accounting processes.
Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage high volumes of financial data with accuracy.
What You’ll Do
Accounts Receivables
• Generate and issue customer invoices based on sales orders, contracts, or billing schedules.
• Record and apply incoming payments via check, ACH, credit card, and other payment methods.
• Track lien waivers and manage documentation.
• Coordinate with Project Managers on billing and percentage completion.
• Monitor customer account balances and follow up on past-due accounts to ensure timely collections.
• Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies or customer disputes.
• Maintain accurate customer records and credit information in the accounting system.
• Prepare A/R aging reports and assist with cash flow forecasting.
• Support revenue recognition processes and month-end close activities.
• Cross-train with the Accounts Payable Clerk to provide backup support and ensure continuity of accounting operations.
Administrative Accounting
• Provide support to the Controller in day-to-day financial operations.
• Maintain accuracy and consistency while entering significant volumes of financial data into accounting platforms.
• Ensure all entries are coded correctly to appropriate general ledger accounts.
• Assist in maintaining clean, organized digital and physical records.
• Scan and file documents as needed for audit and reference purposes.
• Perform routine data audits to ensure accuracy and completeness.
What You Bring
• Associate’s degree in accounting or 1–2 years of experience in accounts receivable, accounting support, or a related administrative/accounting role.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when working with financial data.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365 applications preferred.
• Familiarity with accounting software platforms is a plus.
