Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical intern to support our accounting and finance team. This role offers a unique opportunity to have hands-on experience in both corporate accounting and tax accounting. The intern will work closely with accounting and finance team members and will periodically interface with other departments and employees for information. Other assigned work may include assisting with month-end close, posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, researching tax-related items, verifying tax payments, and many other projects.
Minimum Qualifications- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Must be available to work on average 15 hours per week. Unpaid time off during finals, breaks, or other periods is acceptable
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Intern should be comfortable using formulas, pivot tables, or have an aptitude to learn
- Highly detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A team focus to meet critical timelines
- Student must be in good standing with an accredited college/university
- Must have achieved at least junior status
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Assist in a variety of month-end close duties
- Project taxable income for quarterly estimated payments
- Assist in preparing tax reports for decision making
- Support sales, use & property tax teams with data requests
- Assist the AFT team in researching tax-related items
- Monthly review of Tax GL accounts to ensure accuracy
- Assist in preparing monthly account reconciliations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and document processes
- General accounting support duties as assigned
Extended periods of sitting and working in front of a computer. If assigned to a manufacturing project, extended periods of standing, loud noises, and walking will be encountered. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand;
walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Typically, office environment can be expected. Occasional site visits may requires adapting to changing weather conditions.
