PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The purpose of the HVAC Technician position is to ensure the efficient operation, reliability, and safety of heating, ventilation, cooling, and air conditioning systems in residential, commercial, or industrial settings. This role is critical for maintaining indoor air quality, optimal temperature control, and energy efficiency, contributing to the comfort, health, and productivity of building occupants

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Install heating, ventilation, cooling, and air conditioning systems in new or existing structures.
  • Assemble and position components such as compressors, condensers, and ductwork.
  • Connect electrical wiring, control systems, and fuel lines.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to ensure system efficiency and longevity.
  • Diagnose malfunctions in HVAC systems, using testing equipment and tools.
  • Repair or replace defective components, such as motors, compressors, thermostats, or fans.
  • Clean and maintain air ducts, filters, and other parts of the system.
  • Conduct system performance tests to ensure proper airflow, temperature control, and humidity regulation.
  • Adjust and calibrate thermostats, sensors, and control systems.
  • Recommend and implement energy-saving measures or upgrades.
  • Ensure all work complies with local building and safety codes, as well as manufacturer guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance tasks.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for warranty claims or client records.
  • Respond promptly to emergency repair requests and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Provide on-call support outside of standard working hours when necessary.
  • Explain system issues and maintenance recommendations to clients in a clear and professional manner.
  • Provide guidance on system operation, maintenance practices, and upgrade options.
  • Manage tools and equipment required for HVAC work, ensuring they are maintained and stored correctly.
  • Track and order replacement parts or materials needed for repairs and installations.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • 2–5 years of hands-on experience in HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Familiarity with diagnosing and troubleshooting various HVAC system components, including compressors, fans, motors, and thermostats.
  • Experience working with advanced cooling systems, such as energy-efficient or smart HVAC technologies, is an advantage.
  • Proven track record of working in residential, commercial, or industrial HVAC settings.
  • Comprehensive understanding of HVAC systems, equipment, and controls.
  • Familiarity with HVAC-related safety standards, regulations, and building codes.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, multimeters, and other specialized equipment.
  • Experience with reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Trade Test Certification or equivalent qualification in HVAC or related fields (e.g., N3).
  • Refrigerant Handling Certification (e.g., EPA certification) to demonstrate competency in handling and disposing of refrigerants safely.
