External Sales Consultant job vacancy in Durban North.

Our national client, based in Durban North, is seeking a motivated and goal-driven Sales Representative to join their growing team. In this role, you’ll take ownership of developing new business opportunities while maintaining and strengthening long-term relationships with existing clients.

Salary:
Basic salary plus commission and company fuel.

Requirements:

  • Matric (Grade 12) essential
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable own transport
  • Strong administrative skills with a good understanding of processes and procedures
  • Demonstrated success in a sales role with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding targets
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and interpersonal
  • Confident in closing sales and handling objections effectively
  • Highly target-driven, with a solution-oriented mindset
  • Self-motivated and accountable, with the ability to manage their own workload and client portfolio independently

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Consistently meet and exceed sales targets by delivering exceptional customer service and proactive follow-up
  • Collaborate with designers, architects, builders, contractors, and other stakeholders to understand and support project requirements
  • Stay informed on the latest product innovations, industry trends, and market developments to provide expert advice to clients
  • Respond promptly to inbound leads by setting up meetings and identifying customer needs
  • Proactively engage with existing clients while sourcing and securing new business opportunities
  • Handle incoming product and service queries with professionalism and product knowledge
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client information and activities in the CRM system on a daily basis
  • Grow the client base by generating leads, developing new business, and expanding existing accounts and networks
  • Prepare quotes and proposals accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring they align with client requirements
  • Conduct thorough after-sales follow-ups to ensure client satisfaction and identify opportunities for repeat business
  • Leverage existing company clients to identify upselling or cross-selling opportunities
  • Develop a deep understanding of the company’s product and service offerings
  • Provide consultative support to industry professionals—including architects, electricians, engineers, and project managers—ensuring appropriate solutions are offered
  • Maintain strong market awareness, including competitor activities and emerging opportunities
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments to ensure seamless service delivery and project execution.
