DIVISION: DURDOC HOSPITAL- MICU
JOB TITLE: ENROLLED NURSE – x1
PURPOSE OF POSITIONThe Enrolled Nurse will be responsible for the assessment, care and meeting of patient needs and will also be responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of appropriate programmes of care to ensuring high quality patient care. Nursing activities form part of a nursing regime that is planned and initiated by the Registered Nurse. The incumbent is held accountable for his/her own acts and omissions.
KEYPERFORMANCE AREAS
- Ensure that all documentation is maintained timeously and accurately, reflecting patient care.
- Ensure stock is controlled.
- Implement governance, quality and risk management.
- Maintain a therapeutic, clean and safe environment that is free from medico-legal hazards.
- Responsible for the care of equipment.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Acts in a supervisory capacity over ENAs.
- Contribute to the holistic care of patients.
- Participate in ward/units quality improvement programme.
- Practice the principles of infection prevention and Health & Safety, and report risks identified.
- Carry out all departmental duties as assigned by supervisors.
- Personal and professional development to maintain a satisfactory level of skill and knowledge.
- Build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
- Develop collaborative relationships and actively participate as a team member to accomplish work goals.
- Practice within the scope of practice as an Enrolled Nurse.
- Competent with the Hospitals Policies and Regulations.
- Attend to patients complaints and elevate promptly as required.
- Must be able to provide safe, quality patient care within the ward/unit.
- Comply with SANC and stakeholder legislation.
(Educational Qualifications & Experience)
- Must be registered with SANC as an Enrolled Nurse with valid APC.
- Preferably have two or more years of experience as an Enrolled Nurse in an ICU environment.
- Must be prepared to work additional hours.
- Must be able to work independently under minimum supervision.
- Must be prepared to do shift work (Night shift / Day Shift).
- Must be computer literate – MS Word & Excel.
- Good interpersonal skills with doctors, patients and colleagues are essential.
- Must have excellent telephone skills.
- Must possess excellent inter-personal skill.
