Mechanical Engineering Estimator Engineer /Quantity Surveyor

We are a Level 9 CIDB and Iso 9001:2015 registered Mechanical Engineering Company with over 40 years of active experience of supplying turnkey water solutions.

We are seeking an individual to lead our Tenders department in obtaining and evaluating leads and preparing competitive BOQ costing in line with client specifications. This role requires a self motivated individual with an understanding of the Mechanical and Electrical market to plan, organize and execute competitive pricing strategies that result in the awarding of tenders that have a measurable positive impact on revenue and profit growth.

• Obtaining leads to possible work/documents
• Respond to Request for Quotations and Tenders in line with the company s offering and competencies
• Schedule Pre-Tender meetings and site briefings/inspections
• Input accurate BOQ pricing; SOW program; and cash flow projections at tender stage
• Prepare material resource lists for pricing
• Accurate interpretation of drawings in order for costing and resource planning
• Manage department s responsiveness to returnable documents
• Prepare cost finalization templates
• Prepare tender methodology in line with SOW
• Manage department s arrangement of bid documents and cover letters
• Lead timely correspondence with client/consultant; sub-contractors, and suppliers
• Define project tasks and optimal resource requirements
• Lead the pricing and program and cash flow projections as required for multiple projects
• Maintain supplier relationships
• Negotiate sub-contractor contracts and equipment lease agreements
• Timely review and submission of all bid documents

• Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, costing and project management with +- 10 years of experience
• Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of engineering management
• Knowledge of water treatment
• Knowledge of project management techniques and tools
• Direct work experience in an engineering management capacity
• Proven experience in process design
• Proven experience in procurement of cost-effective solutions
• Proven experience in people management
• Proven experience in strategic planning
• Proven experience in risk management
• Proven experience in change management
• Proficient in MS Office Excel, MS Project and project management software
