Home‑School facilitator/tutor for a 12‑year‑old male with ADHD in Durban KZN.

Main Purpose of the job
:
You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on this child's development and learning. Your responsibilities will include supporting his learning tasks, managing planning and task organization, and building a relationship based on acceptance and trust.

• Assist the child with understanding learning tasks and completing them appropriately.
• Support his individual learning and regulation needs.
• Collaborate with the online schooling platform and implement individualized strategies.
• Encourage and facilitate learning and development.
• Facilitate social engagements with peers when needed.
• Accommodate and alleviate ADHD related sensory and attention difficulties.
• Redirect attention to tasks and minimize distractions while creating a fun and collaborative learning environment.

• Experience working with children and adolescents, particularly neurodivergent individuals.
• Knowledge of childhood and adolescent development.
• Teaching experience or a teaching degree/diploma is an advantage.
• Punctuality and a gentle, kind approach while remaining firm in boundaries.
• Availability weekdays from 09h00 to 11h00 (to be confirmed).
• Commitment to the role long term.
• A valid driver's licence and reliable car (essential).
• Relevant certifications or qualifications in education, special education, psychology or related fields (desirable).

Opportunity to be trained by the NDC Facilitation Academy at the start of the role. Support sessions are provided for one month thereafter working in collaboration with the Neurodiversity Centre.
