The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. This includes greeting customers, assisting them with merchandise, maintaining a clean work area, and presenting merchandise properly. Associates perform tasks across all store areas as needed and may be requested to perform additional tasks to achieve customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions- Practice safe behaviors and maintain a safe, clutter‑free shopping environment.
- Treat customers and associates with respect and courtesy; greet customers eye contact, smile, say “hello” and “thank you.”
- Assist customers with merchandise and respond promptly to customer service calls.
- Represent and support the Ross brand; maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
- Perform cleaning tasks: sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, restocking restroom supplies, and disinfecting high‑touch areas.
- Perform daily assigned sizing, recovery, and merchandising to meet presentation guidelines.
- Expedite newly received merchandise receipts and merchandise them per best practices.
- Understand Loss Prevention Awareness, Shortage Highway, store protection standards.
- Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
- Follow Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock policies and handle all cash and refund transactions accurately.
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency and maximize productivity while minimizing steps in workflow.

- Effective communication with customers, associates, and store leadership.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC.
- Spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
- Regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, stoop.
- Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
- Stockroom shifts require pushing, pulling, and lifting more than 20 pounds.
