Position Overview:

The FSQA Manager at Tailwind Nutrition owns food safety and quality from ingredient intake to finished product—making sure everything that goes into the bag meets our high standards. You’ll work closely with our operations team to keep systems tight, audits clean, and continuous improvement moving forward.

Key Responsibilities
  • Production Floor: Ensure production checks are performed to meet our continual high standards
  • Production Floor: Inspect and approve ingredients, packaging, and finished goods for quality, integrity and conformance to specifications.
  • Production Floor: Conduct facility audits to identify and monitor FSQA best practices and processes
  • Coaching and Compliance: Manage and advise on priorities and tasks for the QC Technician.
  • Coaching and Compliance: Build a rapport with our team through our values, encouraging learning and growth
  • Coaching and Compliance: Lead/coordinate customer and external vendor audits and execution of corrective actions
  • Coaching and Compliance: Ensure timely updates and ongoing maintenance of the Food Safety / Quality Systems
  • Coaching and Compliance: Meet regulatory requirements to demonstrate we produce safe and wholesome products
  • Coaching and Compliance: Assist with environmental monitoring programs and 3rd party testing needs
  • Coaching and Compliance: Develop and/or deliver food safety and quality training programs to staff
  • Coaching and Compliance: Ensure calibration processes are followed for applicable testing equipment
  • Coaching and Compliance: Maintain traceability for holds, work in progress, and finished goods
  • Process and Projects: Revise, update, and maintain technical documents, policies, and SOPs as needed
  • Process and Projects: Identifies potential failure points and implement preventative measures to mitigate risks
  • Process and Projects: Lead Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Plans (CAPAs) for FSQA related processes
  • Process and Projects: Design and manage programs, procedures and/or documents to align with customer and/or company-specific goals or requirements
  • Process and Projects: Facilitate commercialization of products, including generating nutrition fact panels
Qualifications
  • BS/BA degree preferred and 3-5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance management OR a minimum of 5 years of prior experience in a similar role with a focus on quality system development
  • CPG experience required, with food and beverage experience to the front of the pack
  • Knowledge of HACCP and certifications such as PCQI is preferred
  • Proficient computer skills, including a strong working knowledge of Google Drive and related tools
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in a fast-paced, production environment
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, including a willingness to directly coach
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and consistently follow through on commitments.
