Position: Assistant Professor in Literature and Composition (tenure track)

* Position Summary:

** This tenure-track Assistant Professor in English will serve as the department’s expert in Literature and Composition. The primary responsibility of this position is teaching, but continuing to develop a research agenda is expected and supported by the department and college.
*
* Job Description:

**** Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
*** Teach 21 credit hours per academic year as assigned. Teaching includes preparing class and evaluation materials, delivering lectures, grading, and being available for student questions.
* Must be able to teach Women’s Literature, Composition, and WID.
* Demonstrate a commitment to student success in the classroom and during office hours
* Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
* Maintains knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the American with Disabilities Act and Section 508.
* Produces and remediates digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards.
* Perform other duties as assigned
** Required Education, Specialized

Skills and Experience:

*** PhD in American or British Literature with concentration in Women’s Literature or Gender and Sexuality Studies. Doctoral candidates (ABDs) must have a degree in-hand by August 2026.
* Experience teaching Composition courses
* Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Good organizational skills and the ability to complete tasks within strict timelines.
** Preferred Education, Specialized

* Experience teaching underrepresented populations.

Employees must be present on campus for class, tutoring and meeting times, but have flexibility for their grading and preparation.
