Position SummaryThe Receptionist greets and assists visitors and patients, answers the switchboard, manages mail, documents incoming deliveries, and provides clerical support as assigned. The role also facilitates safety and security initiatives, including announcing codes, managing visitor sign‑in/out, reviewing and documenting patient belongings, and identifying escalation issues in the reception area.
- Greets visitors to the building, creates a warm and welcoming environment, determines reason for visit, and creates temporary badges as needed.
- Answers telephone promptly and directs callers to the appropriate department or employee.
- Differentiates among crisis calls and can access appropriate clinical staff.
- When requested staff is not available, offers callers options such as transferring to a voice mailbox, locating another staff person, or taking a message.
- Provides callers with company address, directions, fax numbers, website, services provided, and other related information.
- Notifies applicants of the application process.
- Manages patient visitation to ensure appropriate processes are followed (number, age, relation of visitors, collection of personal belongings).
- Accepts, reviews, and documents patient belongings and notifies appropriate staff to ensure timely delivery to unit/patient.
- Receives, sorts, and forwards incoming mail and maintains and routes publications.
- Coordinates pick‑up and delivery of express mail services (Fed Ex, UPS, etc.).
- Manages the security of the reception area, recognizes signs of rising acuity, and calls for assistance as needed.
- Assists in the expedient announcement of codes and fire drills.
- Manages the cash box and sales for meal tickets and events.
- Assists with clerical duties such as faxing, filing, and collating for the facility as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Only for one‑day coverage 12:30 hour shifts.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- One year of experience on a multi‑line telephone switchboard in a health care environment preferred.
- Weekend and holiday availability.
- 12:30 hour shifts.
