Job Summary

Produces high quality decorated items and baked goods according to the company’s standard product offerings. Decorates cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies and other bakery items. Assists in the daily operations in the bakery department. Increases customer confidence and loyalty by promoting and executing consistent and compliant operating conditions. Provides fresh and appealing products, courteous, knowledgeable and prompt service. Values diversity and supports an inclusive environment by embracing the backgrounds and experiences of the team.

Essential

Responsibilities
  • Service – 40% Creates an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important and appreciated to increase customer confidence and loyalty. Ensures department is merchandised per plan. Maintains product availability, freshness, quality and value. Offers product samples, answers questions and assists customers in finding or suggesting products. Fulfills customer requests and special orders. Maintains an efficient method of receiving and processing orders.

    Decorates merchandise per customer request and uses decoration kits and freehand decorating skills.
  • Financial – 40% Completes daily/weekly tasks, processes/bakes merchandise per production guidelines, and performs quality assurance checks on products. Monitors sell-by dates, production schedules and shelf life. Receives/unloads deliveries and stores products. Stocks and rotates department items to ensure freshness and minimize waste and cost. Maintains inventory awareness and reports discrepancies. Ensures products are held at proper temperatures and maintains temperature logs as required.
  • Leadership – 10% Promotes trust and teamwork, communicates information, and guides the team to meet goals. Adheres to laws and company guidelines.
  • Compliance/Safety – 10% Maintains safety, sanitation and productivity standards. Follows regulatory requirements (food safety, USDA, COOL, DOA). Conducts recalls and withdrawals as needed. Enforces safety programs, reports unsafe conditions, accidents, theft or fraud. Ensures compliance with wage/hour policies and safety training. Ensures PPE usage and equipment safety; reports hazards and maintains equipment.

Qualifications Required Education

High School / GED

Language Requirements

English;
Spanish preferred

Relevant Experience

0 - 3 years minimum;
Supervisory experience not required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain it
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Operate bakery equipment (slicer, oven, scale, knives, box cutter, pricing gun) per guidelines
  • Proficient with computer applications used in department operations; food safety certification or ability to obtain within 180 days
Working Conditions

Retail - Bakery: physical demands include standing/walking, repetitive movements, lifting up to 35 lbs, and exposure to indoor/outdoor conditions, varying temperatures, and safety hazards as described in the job posting. Personal Protective Equipment provided as required.

Travel

Occasional travel, floater role may require travel up to 80% of the time for duties.
