This position is responsible for enrolling & completing the training course Level 1 provided by Petsense, “Paragon,” in preparation for a career in grooming and/or bathing.

Paragon is a virtual distance learning program where students are guided through a 15-week training designed to teach fundamentals in bathing and grooming, along with safety, pet first aid and CPR, pet handling, dog anatomy, and physiology. This is achieved through hands-on practice, book work, online exams, videos, and photo submissions for grading.

As a Team Member, you must be available, flexible, adaptable, and service-oriented, fulfilling the following:

• Maintain regular attendance.
• Work scheduled shifts, including varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Support selling initiatives (TEAM):
  • Thank the Customer
  • Engage with the customer and/or pet
  • Advise on products or services
  • Make it Memorable
• Groom Technicians in Training must learn and perform duties such as enroll & complete Paragon Level 1 training within five weeks, safe pet handling, bathing, grooming, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and more, consistently and safely.
• Ensure animal safety and well-being, inspect for health issues, practice safety and sanitization, and maintain equipment.
• Assist in generating business via calls, scheduling, follow-ups, and record-keeping.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience:

Comfortable working with dogs and cats, demonstrating patience and compassion. Must provide or be willing to purchase grooming tools.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read, write, and count accurately.

• Operate grooming tools and equipment effectively.
• Communicate effectively with team and customers.
• Display compassion and attention to detail.
• Basic computer skills and conflict resolution.

• Indoor environment with moderate noise, exposure to grooming tools, pet waste, and wet conditions.
• Work shifts typically range from 4 to over 8 hours, on hard surfaces, with safety adherence.

• Move and transfer animals and equipment up to 50 pounds.
• Stand and work for extended periods, operate grooming instruments, and perform physical activities such as bending and lifting.
