The Role The Label Control Operative is responsible for the accurate preparation, control, and issuance of printed packaging materials to support production and dispatch operations. This role ensures that all sleeves, labels, case end labels, base labels, and printed film are correctly prepared, issued, recorded, and controlled to maintain product integrity, traceability, and compliance. The position plays a key part in preventing labelling errors, maintaining organised documentation, supporting smooth production flow, and upholding high standards of housekeeping and communication within a team environment.

Key Responsibilities Prepare, check and verify all printed materials (labels, sleeves, case end labels, base labels and printed film) before release to Production, ensuring only approved and current artwork is used and obsolete stock is removed promptly. Store and control printed materials securely, issuing them in line with the production schedule and dispatch requirements. Organise workload to meet planned production start times and operational priorities.
Accurately complete all documentation to ensure full traceability and audit readiness. Handle materials in accordance with quality and food safety standards while maintaining high housekeeping standards. Work collaboratively with Production and other departments, clearly communicating label changes, issues or shortages. Demonstrate strong organisational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Support audit readiness and continuous improvement initiatives within the Quality function.
Essential Criteria Ability to work well within a team Good standard of written and spoken English Excellent organisational and communication skills Ability to work well under pressure, prioritise effectively, and maintain excellent attention to detail Flexible and adaptable with a positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn Desirable Criteria Previous experience in food sector Previous experience in a production or quality role
