Job Title: Health & Safety Officer
Reports To: HR Manager / Factory Manager
Location: [Specify location if needed]
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday Friday (flexibility required during audits, peak seasons, or customer visits)
Salary: £35,000 £ 40,000 per year OTE
Benefits: 28 days holiday, bank holidays (subject to approval), workplace pension, staff events, on-site parking/canteen
As a Health & Safety Officer, you will support the business in implementing Health & Safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all legal obligations, and promoting the health, safety, and well‑being of all employees. The Health & Safety Officer will play a key role in maintaining a safe workplace while delivering training, audits, and guidance across the organization.
KeyDuties and Responsibilities:
- Provide Health & Safety guidance and support to managers, team leaders, and staff.
- Assist in the development and implementation of company Health & Safety policies.
- Maintain compliance with relevant Health & Safety legislation and regulations.
- Coordinate all fire alarm and fire safety requirements.
- Support training activities, including First Aid and Fire Warden programs.
- Perform Health & Safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Prepare and maintain accurate reports, documentation, and records.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop follow‑up action plans.
- Support internal audits and external audit processes.
- Reinforce all Health & Safety protocols across the business.
- Deliver internal Health & Safety training sessions and coordinate external training where necessary.
- Actively promote the organization's values and a culture of safety.
Competencies:
- Minimum 2 years experience in a similar Health & Safety role.
- Experience with report writing, auditing, and RAMS.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Proficient in IT and numeracy (MS Office).
- Full clean driving license.
Qualifications:
- NEBOSH Diploma or Degree.
- Experience with in the food or FMCG industry.
- Training certification or experience delivering Health & Safety training.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Problem‑solving mindset with attention to detail.
- Team player with a flexible approach to working hours.
The role may require flexibility to meet the demands of a 7-day operational environment.
Hours include a 30-minute lunch and two 15-minute breaks (paid/unpaid as applicable).
