JOB TITLE:

JOB PURPOSE:
The post holder will support the Purchasing Department and follow the companys purchasing strategy in line with the strategic vision of the business.
You will play a key role within the Purchasing Department on delivering a consistent approach towards all sourcing and buying within the business. Driving the agenda for on time, in full delivery whilst maintaining best value for money & maximising cost effectiveness and optimum stock levels tailored to the companys needs.
Key Responsibilities- Purchase goods, raw materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets using an MRP/ERP system.
- Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations.
- Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible.
- To give input into the development of appropriate formalised purchasing policies, compliance and procedures across the organisation, educating and supporting other departments within the organisation the importance of adhering to the standards.
- To identify discrepancies that may arise regarding stock, ordering or payment of material, investigating and acting to resolve, ensuring resolution.
- To formulate and compile reports as required, including but not limited to, supplier performance, cost reductions and shortages.
- To ensure accuracy and attention to detail in the recording and maintenance of Bills of Materials and prioritising kitting schedules with Stores.
- Build relationships with key staff, developing excellent channels of communication to ensure availability of stock on JIT basis.
- Give input to stock reviews, cooperating with the process as necessary.
- To take ownership for understanding and developing a personal product knowledge of products, parts and services for customers, in order to give potential and existing customers accurate information in a professional and timely manner.
- Previous experience working in a similar role in an engineering environment
- Strong and effective communication skills both written and verbal
- Well-developed analytical, innovative and problem-solving abilities
- Good organisational, planning and time management skills
- Competency in MS Office applications ie Word, Excel and Outlook with added experience using MRP/ERP systems
