The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will take ownership of third‑line support, ensuring the stability and security of our IT infrastructure. This role requires a proactive approach to managing complex support issues, building Power Apps to streamline processes, and working confidently with ERP systems, particularly Epicor, to enhance data management and reporting capabilities.

The IT Systems Engineer will play a pivotal role in advancing our cyber security measures and supporting our transition towards a modern data platform utilizing Power BI and Microsoft Fabric. The successful candidate will be a versatile professional with a strong technical background, excellent problem‑solving skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience in third‑line support and IT operations management.
  • Strong expertise in Windows Server, Microsoft 365, and Azure Active Directory.
  • Hands‑on experience with Fortinet Firewalls and managing Managed Service Providers (MSPs).
  • Solid understanding of cyber security frameworks such as Cyber Essentials and ISO standards.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft security tools including Defender, MFA, and Conditional Access.
  • Experience in Power Platform, Power BI, and modern data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric.
  • Proficiency in Power Apps development, including Canvas and Dataverse, or equivalent low‑code platforms.
  • Knowledge of REST API integration and UX design principles for internal and customer‑facing applications.
  • ERP experience, particularly with Epicor or similar systems, including BAQs, REST/API, and upgrades.
  • Strong SQL skills, with the ability to write views, joins, and optimize performance.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes such as BOMs, routings, and work centres.
  • Excellent documentation skills, capable of creating clear, repeatable runbooks and processes.
  • A proactive mindset with a focus on security, process improvement, and knowledge sharing.
Responsibilities
  • Own and manage third‑line support tickets, ensuring timely resolution of complex technical issues.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot Windows Server environments, Microsoft 365, and Azure AD configurations.
  • Oversee and manage firewall security, particularly Fortinet devices, and coordinate with MSPs to meet SLAs and ensure high‑quality support.
  • Implement and maintain cyber security controls aligned with industry frameworks, ensuring security is integrated into all delivery phases.
  • Develop and enhance Power Apps to automate workflows and improve operational efficiency.
  • Design and develop data models and reports within Power BI, establishing a single source of truth for the organization.
  • Assist in the migration towards a modern data platform utilizing Microsoft Fabric or similar technologies.
  • Create and maintain ETL processes using Power Query or equivalent tools to ensure accurate data integration and reporting.
  • Develop internal and customer‑facing applications with low‑code platforms, ensuring usability, security, and performance.
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to understand ERP data requirements and facilitate clean data extraction for reporting and forecasting.
  • Manage and support Epicor ERP systems, including BAQ creation, API integrations, and system upgrades.
  • Document systems, processes, and support runbooks to facilitate knowledge sharing and reduce bus factor risks.
