An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Nurse Practitioner for the Acute Surgical Receiving Unit at Ninewells, a large teaching hospital in Dundee. The successful applicant will be a forward thinking and proactive nurse, who has experience in a relevant specialty at a senior level. You will have a passion for delivering exemplary care to all patients and for striving to push the boundaries of traditional roles.
You will help provide a leadership role for a team of Nurse Practitioners whilst being an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team. You will be expected to provide advanced clinical skills and decision making by assessing, diagnosing, planning and implementing evidence based care for patients presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed unscheduled surgical care needs. In return we will support you to excel in your autonomous practice within a caring, responsive and friendly team and organisation.
Applicants should have a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Practice.
Candidates who do not meet the required ANP criteria are welcome to apply and will be supported to undertake required education and supervised practice to develop their competence and confidence to fulfil the duties of an ANP through appointments to a training post, (subject to the terms and conditions of Agenda for Change and the application of Annex 21 2 (i) where appropriate).
Comprehensive education and supervised practice will be provided to support trainees to meet all of the requirements of the ANP role across the four pillars of practice for practice and to record ANP status on the SWISS database. It is an expectation that as an Annex 21 appointment you will successfully complete the expected qualifications as an ANP within the first 2 years of appointment.
Successful trainee candidate must complete all required training and commit to remain within the department for a minimum of two years following completion.
Evidence of continual professional development within an appropriate clinical setting is essential. Extensive experience in more than one speciality is desirable and experience at Band 6 level is essential.
You must be registered on Sub-part 1: RN1 or RNA or Sub-part 2: RN2 of the UK NMC Register.

Hours of work are: 37 hours pro rata based upon 12 hour shift pattern over seven days a week.
