Role overviewWe are excited to have an opening for an experienced registered nurse to work as an integral member of the Home Ventilation Team. The post involves providing information, support and specialist nursing interventions to maximise the quality of life of patients who have chronic respiratory conditions, in particular COPD, Obesity Hypoventilation Syndrome, Type Two Respiratory Failure, Home Oxygen therapy and Non Invasive Ventilation therapy.
The post also involves supporting/educating other healthcare professionals from a respiratory perspective across the organisation. The Home Ventilation team also cares for patients with neuromuscular conditions such as Motor Neurone Disease. The service is based in secondary care, providing support in both Ninewells Hospital and Perth Royal Infirmary (PRI), so willingness to work across both sites is a requirement. The post holder will have a workload that includes clinics both face to face and virtual, home visiting and inpatient work across Ninewells Hospital and PRI.
- Provide information, support and specialist nursing interventions to maximise quality of life for patients with chronic respiratory conditions.
- Support and educate other healthcare professionals from a respiratory perspective across the organisation.
- Deliver care across multiple settings including clinics (face to face and virtual), home visits and inpatient work at Ninewells Hospital and PRI.
- First Level Registered Nurse with evidence of continuing professional development.
- Extensive post-registration experience is required.
- Experience in long-term conditions and acute sector settings, with skills in using Non-Invasive Ventilation therapy is desirable.
- Willingness to learn and motivation to develop; training for this post will be provided.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively as part of the respiratory team.
- Ability to travel; a driving licence is essential due to outreach services.
- Registration on Sub-part 1: RN1 or RNA or Sub-part 2: RN2 of the UK NMC Register.
