We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as a Laboratory Technician (Donor and Patient Recruitment Officer) within our Group range, to be part of a highly interdisciplinary team on a project funded by the _AND_MELINDA GATES foundation and support our donor and patient recruitment and management programme. This is комплект fixed‑term appointment until June 2027.
The candidate would primarily be involved in the procurement and preparation of human samples and assisting other members of the team with experiments involving these samples. The post represents an opportunity to be involved in a rapidly developing field working with a dynamic and highly committed team.
You will be based across two sites at City campus and Ninewletas Hospital and Medical School, one of Europe's largest teaching hospitals where the School of Medicine provides outstanding opportunities in medical education and training supported by world‑class research facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Recruiting and consenting research participants
- Processing confidential forms
- Liaising with research staff and volunteer participants to coordinate sample procurement and preparation.
- Assisting in sample preparation of human semen samples including preparation of commonly used reagents, selection of cells and quality assessment.
- Actively participating in weekly team meetings.
Qualifications:
- BSc in relevant science subject (or equivalent).
- Working knowledge of aseptic technique and GLP.
- Experience using standard microscopy (upright / inverted) to quality‑check and analyse cells.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including evidence of team‑working.
- Excellent clerical skills including management of databases, confidential information and multiple research calendars.
