The UKVI Compliance department plays a crucial role within UWL to ensure the UKVI student sponsor license is safeguarding, maintained and fully compliant with student visa sponsorship duties. The team communicates with everyone across the University and provides guidance and advice to both staff and students. The team's work is essential for maintaining the integrity of the UKVI system and ensuring that international students can study without any legal issues and adhere to UK immigration laws.
The RoleThe postholder will be required to have an excellent understanding of the UKVI student visa regulations, sponsor duties and to ensure the university remains compliant under the UKVI sponsor licence duties.
Responsibilities- Work collaboratively with a variety of departments and offer holders to ensure UKVI procedures and processes are adhered to.
- Check student documentation, undertake credibility checks and assist with queries relating to UKVI requirements.
- Communicate with applicants/students on a regular basis to keep them fully abreast of their application.
- Maintain accurate student records up to date at all times.
- Adapt working hours to contact overseas outside core business hours; occasional evening cover may be required.
- Work fully on-site, primarily based y’s Road campus with occasional cover at other locations/sites.
- Enthusiastic, resilient, customer‑focused person with proven and extensive work experience in using UKVI SMS as a level 1 user.
- Experience processing and issuing CAS essential.
- Methodical, IT‑literate, excellent attention to detail and ability to balance conflicting workloads with prioritisation.
- Ability to communicate with international students where English is not first language.
- Previous work experience in the Higher Education sector essential.
