Consultant in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery – Breast Surgery

Applications are invited for the above post based at Ninewells Hospital & Medical School, Dundee. This is a replacement post following retiral. This is a full-time post (10 PA’s per week) – based at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, but with the potential for sessions across the regional territory. The post will have a major interest in all aspects of reconstructive breast surgery, post-reconstruction surgery and congenital breast surgery.

The breast reconstruction service currently treats approximately 70 new patients per year. There is also a provision for delayed reconstruction and other elements of reconstructive breast surgery and general plastic surgery.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with an established reconstructive Plastic Surgeon both in theatre & outpatient clinic, providing mentorship & support to further develop clinical abilities. There are also opportunities to further develop & expand the current multidisciplinary services. Experience in the management of emergency Plastic Surgery cases is expected, and the on-call commitment is anticipated to be on a 1:9 basis.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential: experience in plastic and reconstructive surgery with a focus on breast reconstruction; ability to work in theatre and outpatient settings; willingness to mentor and develop clinical skills; readiness to participate in on-call duties (1:9). Desirable: prior involvement with multidisciplinary service development and regional breast reconstruction programs.
