We operate across four core revenue streams:
- Custom Manufacturing – Low‑volume, high‑mix wood and corrugated shipping containers for industrial, aerospace, defense, and commercial customers
- Packaging Distribution – A broad portfolio of industrial packaging supplies requiring speed, precision, and disciplined working‑capital management
- Automation Solutions – Packaging equipment integration, system design, and productivity‑driven automation platforms
- Service & Repair – Field service, preventative maintenance, and technical support that keeps our customers running
This is a dynamic, multi‑division business with inventory complexity, project‑based manufacturing, equipment sales, recurring service revenue, and real‑time margin decisions happening daily.
We are hiring a Controller who brings rigor, speed, and leadership to the financial engine of this business—someone who can close fast, see around corners, protect margin, and help scale intelligently.
This role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKEYou will build a finance function that gives the COO and leadership team:
- Trustworthy financials across multiple revenue streams
- Real‑time operational visibility
- Margin intelligence by division, product line, and customer
- Strong controls and clean audits
- A culture of accountability and ownership
1) Close, Reporting, and Financial Truth
- Disciplined monthly close within 7 business days
- GAAP‑aligned financial statements
- Accurate revenue recognition across manufacturing, distribution, equipment sales, and service
- Division‑level variance analysis
- Weekly cash forecasting and visibility
- AR/AP discipline
- Working capital improvements
- Lender reporting and covenant compliance
- Standard and job costing oversight
- Inventory valuation integrity and cycle count discipline
- Gross margin analysis across all divisions
- Proactive margin protection with Operations and Sales
- Project profitability tracking
- Billing milestone monitoring
- Service revenue and margin reporting
- Strengthened internal controls
- ERP/reporting improvements (Prophet 21 a plus)
- Audit readiness year‑round
- Lead and develop accounting staff
- Establish performance standards
- Cross‑functional partnership with Operations and Sales
- 7+ years progressive accounting experience
- 3+ years in Controller or Assistant Controller role
- Manufacturing accounting experience required
- Strong cost accounting and inventory control background
- Experience in multi‑revenue‑stream environments preferred
- Advanced Excel skills
- ERP fluency (Prophet 21 a plus)
- CPA preferred
- 10‑day close
- No‑surprises reporting
- 30%+ reduction in inventory variance
- Divisional margin reporting fully implemented
- Cash forecast accuracy within 5%
- Clean audit with zero material weaknesses
