SUMMARYInstalls, maintains, and repairs shop equipment. This position performs maintenance, parts replacement, and repair of industrial machinery, as well as electrical and electronic equipment. At least 5 years of experience is required. The role requires the ability to work with minimal supervisory direction and follow up.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Work independently
- Responsible for all facility maintenance
- Work with third‑party subcontractor when applicable
- Regular inspection of all electrical and powered equipment
- Troubleshoot and detect problems in all assigned equipment
- Repair assigned equipment as tasked by the Superintendent
- Repair and replace defective components of equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipment
- Clean and lubricate machinery and equipment
- Maintain a clean shop environment in work areas
- Repair and adjust hydraulic pumps and safety valves on heavy equipment
- Perform incidental testing on equipment
- Must be able to read, write, speak, understand and communicate effectively in English
- Maintain regular attendance and timeliness
- Conduct business and interactions with a positive attitude that projects a high level of professionalism
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following qualifications represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or Equivalent.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT- Ability to frequently lift up to 40 lbs
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Operation Monitoring – Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
- Equipment Maintenance – Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed
- Repairing – Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools
- Troubleshooting – Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it
- Operation and Control – Controlling operations of equipment or systems
- Precision Control – The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine to exact positions
- Problem Sensitivity – The ability to tell when something is wrong or likely to go wrong; it does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem
- Decision Making – Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one
- Critical Thinking – Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
- Active Listening – Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
- Coordination – Taking and adjusting actions in relation to others’ actions
- Oral Comprehension – The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
