OVERALL FUNCTION
:
The Training Coordinator is a full-time regular position responsible for teaching all soft skills classes and serving as the first point of contact for Step Up for Women Construction program participants. This role encompasses recruitment, training coordination, student relationship management, and program support to ensure the success of participants and the program.
- Participant Recruitment and Engagement
- Recruit training program participants
- Track applicant information in an applicant spreadsheet
- Lead interviews for program applicants
- Coordinate all applicant enrollment notifications and paperwork
- Soft Skills Instruction
- Teach mandatory soft skills topics from the WV Women Work Step Up for Women Curriculum, covering:
- Communication skills with classmates and employers
- Making effective phone calls
- Resume writing (nontraditional approach)
- Interviewing and job-hunting tactics
- Graduation requirements
- Budgeting and financial management
- Registered Apprenticeships and Union information
- Job Shadowing opportunities
- Field trips to commercial construction job sites
- Gathering essential documents
- Application practice
- Class time for contacting employers and submitting applications
- Add students to Google Classroom or other virtual learning platforms
- Deliver classes both virtually and in person
- Training Coordination and Support
- Establish teachers, speakers, and supplemental training resources
- Prepare students for hands-on portions of training
- Coordinate hands-on components of the training program
- Collaborate with the Regional Coordinator to complete the cohort schedule
- Student Relationship Management
- Serve as Main Point of Contact for program participants, including:
- Responding to inquiries via phone, email, or in person
- Communicating with students through online learning platforms, email, and other methods
- Monitoring attendance and academic progress
- Referring students to community resources as necessary
- Maintaining program records and files
- Referring students to the Regional Coordinator for additional support as needed
- Program Support and Administration
- Assist the Regional Coordinator as necessary
- Provide support for recruitment and outreach events
- Assist with logistical arrangements for program activities and events
- Perform data entry and record keeping
- Maintain a comprehensive and organized filing system for program activities and participant information
- Create student folders, ensuring all information is available digitally
- Track student attendance and data for the EOC report
- Submit monthly reports via mail and email
- Regularly update and submit program statistical information
- Complete the End of Class Reporting Packet after each course
- Other Duties as assigned

Self-starter with the ability to prioritize tasks, adapt to new challenges, and manage diverse responsibilities efficiently. - Knowledge of Barriers to Employment
:
Understanding of workforce barriers related to substance use, poverty, and mental health. - Experience with Underserved Populations
:
Preferred experience working with individuals from underserved backgrounds who face barriers to stable employment. - Communication and Conflict Resolution Skills
:
Excellent problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and conflict resolution techniques to support a collaborative environment. - Technical Proficiency
:
Proficiency with basic computer functions, including data entry and electronic documentation. Experience using data management systems is a plus but not mandatory. - Community Resource Knowledge
:
Knowledge of local resources and eligibility requirements to connect participants with support services. - Professionalism and Independence
:
Professional demeanor, maturity, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. - Transportation and Flexibility
:
Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and willingness to travel occasionally within the designated region and to state office locations. - Educational Background
