Dental Nurse - Training Wing

Overview

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated Dental Nurse to join our Public Dental Service (PDS) to provide patient‑centred dental support for Dental and Therapy students at Dumfries Dental Centre, cover at other outlying clinics may be required at times.

This is a permanent position 37hpw term time (34 weeks per year).

• Provide patient‑centred dental support for Dental and Therapy students at Dumfries Dental Centre.
• Cover at other outlying clinics when required.
• Support Special Care patients.
• Support two clinicians at the same time.
• Participate in the on‑call rota for weekend emergency clinics.

• Relevant clinical experience as a Dental Nurse and NEBDN qualification or SVQ Level 3 in Dental Nursing.
• Registration with the General Dental Council (GDC) as a Dental Nurse.
• Sound knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety requirements within a clinical environment.
• Ability to find solutions to problems whilst retaining excellent and efficient communication skills.
• Desirable: experience of supporting Special Care patients and supporting two clinicians at the same time.

As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro‑rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
