Primarily based at Mountainhall Treatment Centre (MHTC), with shifts across four sites in Dumfries and Galloway.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Chronic Haemodialysis Renal Service as a Registered Nurse. This specialist area of nursing offers a supportive team environment, providing services across Dumfries and Galloway.
We have two vacancies available:
- Post 1 – 37 hours per week, Permanent
- Post 2 – 28.5 hpw, Fixed term ending 26/07/26
Candidates will be considered for both posts unless you indicate a preference on your application.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Registered Nurse in this role, you will provide high-quality haemodialysis care to patients. You will work across multiple sites within the region, so a valid driving licence or ability to travel independently is required. Shift patterns vary, with 9.5‑hour shifts at MHTC and 11.5‑hour shifts at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary (DGRI), Kirkcudbright (KBT) and Galloway Community Hospital (GCH), Stranraer.
The service runs outpatient appointments from Monday to Saturday and out‑of‑hours shifts are covered by the on‑call renal nurse team.
In addition to haemodialysis, the service also provides plasma exchange in both acute and chronic settings. You will have the opportunity to gain exposure and learning regarding peritoneal dialysis, enhancing your skills and knowledge in renal care.
Qualifications and ExperienceApplicants must be a Registered Nurse. Experience in haemodialysis is beneficial but not essential as full training will be provided. The training includes an in‑house programme at MHTC, supported by the Renal Educator and mentors. Once your skills are appropriate, you will be included in the on‑call rota, which involves additional training.
