Job Title – Class 2 Hi-Ab Driver

Location – Dumfries

Salary – Circa £35,000 - £45,000 OTE DOE

Role Context

The HGV Driver will be working within Hydro International's UK Wastewater Services (UKWWS) team. We support water utility companies working on sewage sites across the United Kingdom.

Responsibilities
  • Weekly driving/operating crane and working on sewage treatment sites; role requires being away from home Monday to Friday on a regular basis.
  • Take the lead role in all lifting operations and securing loads; responsible for day-to-day maintenance of the lorry and crane.
  • Work on lifting, removing, and installing machinery; may involve manual fitting work as part of the Mechanical/electrical engineering team.
  • Work outside in all weathers; PPE clothing will be provided.
  • Overnight stays in the cab of the lorry.
  • When required, work on a Saturday morning for a thorough weekly clean and to prepare the lorry and load for the forthcoming week.
Competence And Qualifications
  • C/HGV 2 licence
  • LOLER 1998 appreciation and awareness
  • Valid driver’s CPC and Digi card
  • Crane Operators licence
  • Confined spaces to City and Guilds is desirable
  • Slinger/crane supervisor
  • Mechanical Engineering background is desirable
Skills & Attributes
  • Qualified crane operator with experience
  • Experience of British Standard Code of Practice for the safe use of cranes BS7121
  • Experience of loading flatbed wagons and securing loads
  • Basic knowledge of industrial mechanical fitting
  • Basic knowledge of Health & Safety issues in construction
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work in a systematic and organised manner to meet timescales
  • Friendly, professional, reliable with good people skills; enjoy supporting and working as part of a team
  • Effective communication with customers, company management and staff
  • Ability to work as part of a team and cooperate with other staff/trades
  • Conduct work activities professionally and promote a positive image of the company
Key Duties
  • Weekly driving/operating crane and working on sewage treatment sites; role involves regular away-from-home commitment (Mon-Fri)
  • Lead role in lifting operations, securing loads, and day-to-day lorry/crane maintenance
  • Work as part of the Mechanical/electrical engineering team; may include manual fitting
  • Work outside in all weather conditions; PPE provided
  • Overnight stays in the cab of the lorry
  • If required, Saturday morning duties to perform a thorough weekly clean and prepare for the forthcoming week
