We’re looking for an Automation Controls Engineer to join our team in Dumbarton. You will be working at the intersection of power systems and software development, creating innovative solutions that improve the performance, reliability, and capabilities of our hybrid power solutions.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and refine control logic to improve system performance, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Design and implement simulation models, and develop testing programmes using tools such as Codesys, Matlab, and Simulink.
  • Build and maintain simulation environments to validate control systems for robustness and reliability.
  • Drive continuous improvement in testing and validation methodologies.
  • Prepare detailed specifications, operational documentation, and records.
  • Advise on design issues and ensure alignment with internal quality and industry standards.
  • Debug complex control systems and software issues, optimise system performance, and support best practices.
You’ll Have The Following Skills And Experience
  • Proven engineering experience with a strong focus on controls and software development.
  • Solid background in the power industry with deep knowledge of power systems.
  • Developing simulation models, ideally for power generation assets.
  • Expertise in model-based development and validation using Matlab & Simulink.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming, preferably using Codesys.
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills, with the ability to work independently and drive projects with minimal supervision.
