Job Description
As a part-time, term‑time Early Learning Childcare Officer, you will work at Early Level (P.1 and ELC) during the weekdays Monday to Thursday 8:30am‑4:00pm, with a 30‑minute unpaid break, or hours agreed with the Head Teacher. Salary will be pro‑rated to the hours worked.
Main Duties Of The Post- contribute to the provision of a safe, caring and stimulating nursery environment for all children;
- contribute to and implement a relevant curriculum in line with national and local guidance;
- plan, record, implement and evaluate suitable programmes of activities;
- maintain and record children’s assessment progress and promote parental participation.
It is essential you have experience working with pre‑five children in a relevant setting and have knowledge of the Curriculum of Excellence (early level) and the pre‑birth‑to‑three‑year‑old guidance. You should be flexible in your approach and able to adapt to change.
Candidates must hold the NNEB (or modular equivalent), an HNC in Childhood Practice, an SVQ2 Social Services (Children and Young People) or an SVQ3 in Social Services (Children and Young People). Successful candidates, if not already registered with SSSC as practitioners, will be required to gain this within 3 months of the date of appointment.
This post is a regulated role under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Preferred applicants will become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
