Bresponsible work assisting in the planning, development, implementation, and assignment of various inmate reintegration treatment programs in the County Jail.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring inmate treatment programs.
- Identify problem behaviors and screen inmates.
- Prepare program reports.
- Schedule the daily activities of designated staff.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, sociology, criminology, recreation, physical education, recreational therapy, or a closely related field.
- Three (3) years of full‑time experience as a Corrections Counselor or Program Facilitator in the St. Louis County Sheriff's Department OR five (5) years of full‑time, paid, verifiable experience in a corrections agency.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Frequent:
Lift and carry up to 10 pounds; perform tasks requiring near, mid‑range, and far vision; maintain posture, balance, and visual acuity; use fingers, grasp, handle; stand, sit, walk, turn wrists; work alone, with, and around others; customer/public contact; and work inside. - Occasional:
Lift and carry up to 20 pounds; climb stairs; crouch, kneel, reach above shoulder; squat, stoop/bend; taste/smell; twist at waist; move objects; drive; work outside; maintain traffic patterns; and rotate neck.
- February 25, 2026 – Applicant screening will begin.
- Week of March 9, 2026 – Supplemental question scoring to be completed.
- Week of March 23, 2026 – Interviews to be conducted.
Eligible applicants must attach the appropriate documentation:
- Veteran: DD‑214 noting character of service.
- Disabled Veteran: DD‑214 and uncompensable disability award letter issued within the last 6 months.
- Spouse of Disabled Veteran: DD‑214, uncompensable disability award letter issued within the last 6 months, and marriage certificate (eligible only if the veteran is unable to qualify because of the disability).
- Spouse of Deceased Veteran: DD‑214, marriage certificate, and death certificate.
Applicants selected for appointment may be subject to a background investigation.
Probationary PeriodAppointees must successfully complete at least a six‑month probationary period prior to permanent employment certification.
