NOTE
  • The current vacancy is on a rotating shift. The days off and/or the shift may vary over time.
  • The current vacancy is located at the 148th Airbase.

Military Security Guards provide 24 hour a day security coverage. Days off will vary according to the shift you are assigned to.

Journeyman level, experienced security work in support of a National Guard facility, armed security work providing protection & security for property and personnel at a Minnesota Air National Guard U.S. Military Facility. The work involves regulating movement in and out of the 148 Fighter Wing, enforcing regulations and rules, guarding against vandalism and burglary, assisting in building evacuation, applying first‑aid, patrolling air base, HR‑RTF 8.11.2009, munitions storage areas and aircraft parking areas, provide armed emergency response to accidents, incidents and other unusual occurrences, prepares detailed incident reports and maintains log records.

Must have successfully completed any Military Police/Security Course that awards and Air Force AFSC, Army or Marine MOS, or Navy 9545 N EC or Master at Arms rating, or equivalent civilian type training.

Minimum Qualifications
  • All applicants are required to be armed in the course of their duties and must be eligible under the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Individuals convicted of domestic violence are not eligible for hire or retention.
  • Applicants must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D driver’s license (or other state’s equivalent).
  • All applicants must obtain a favorable National Agency Check with Local Records and Credit Check (NACLC). Personnel may be hired prior to a completed check. Failure to obtain or retain a favorable NACLC for a position of trust is basis for removal.
Knowledge of
  • Proper safety precautions;
  • First aid techniques;
  • Principles of effective public relations sufficient to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner.
Ability to
  • Follow oral and written instructions
  • Read and comprehend, write and speak English sufficient to understand and follow security protocols/procedures & memoranda, write incident reports and communicate clearly & effectively with base staff and visitors.
  • Enforce regulations
  • Keep records and write reports
  • Respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Work forced overtime as the need arises.
