NP​/PA - General Surgery - Duluth, MN

Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the General Surgery department at Essentia Health, Duluth, MN, will provide advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision-making skills. Working independently and collaboratively with physicians and other health professionals, the NP/PA will deliver health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention across all age groups.

• Join a busy, established, complex surgery team consisting of 5 Advanced Practitioners and 7 Physicians.
• Support General Surgeons in the operating room as a Surgical Assist.
• Provide pre‑op and post‑op patient education.
• Coordinate diagnostic studies, consultations, procedures, and communications.
• Manage post‑op care, including daily rounds, discharge, patient/family education, and follow‑up clinic visits.
• Handle evening and weekend call duties.
• Support the entire General Surgery physician team.

• Current licensure as a registered nurse in the appropriate state.
• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the appropriate state.
• Current certification in CPR.
• National certification in the applicable area.
• Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice.
• For PA candidates:
  Current licensure as a physician assistant in the appropriate state, current CPR certification, national certification, and successful completion of the credentialing process.

Base pay range: $57.00/hr – $80.50/hr (subject to experience and skill level). Hired candidates may also receive additional compensation in the form of bonuses, quality incentives, or production-based compensation.
