Overview
The Quality and Production Manager ensures that manufacturing operations run efficiently while meeting or exceeding quality standards. This role directly contributes to the company’s value by driving operational excellence, safeguarding product quality, and supporting strategic goals.
Responsibilities- Direct and optimize production operations – Plan, organize, and oversee daily manufacturing activities to achieve output, cost, and efficiency targets. Approx. 35%
- Develop and implement quality management systems – Establish and maintain robust quality control processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements. Approx. 25%
- Lead and manage teams – Recruit, train, and develop staff; set performance goals; conduct evaluations; and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Approx. 20%
- Drive process improvement initiatives – Analyze workflows, identify inefficiencies, and implement lean manufacturing and Six Sigma practices to enhance productivity and reduce waste. Approx. 10%
- Monitor and report performance metrics – Track key indicators for production and quality, prepare reports, and present findings to senior leadership for strategic decision-making. Approx. 10%
- Context considerations – Supervisory responsibility:
Full authority for hiring, performance management, and development of production and quality teams;
Independence of action: operates within broad guidelines;
Decision making: impacts production efficiency, product quality, and compliance;
Problem solving: address complex issues with innovative solutions.
Education Level: Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant experience in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management, or a related field.
Valuable Added
Education:
Master’s degree in operations management, Business Administration (MBA), or Quality Assurance. Certifications such as Lean Six Sigma, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
Specific Knowledge and
Work Experience:
In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control systems, and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma); familiarity with regulatory compliance standards (FAA, EASA, CAA, AS9100); strong knowledge of production planning, capacity management, and root cause analysis tools; experience with ERP systems and quality management software.
Minimum Years of
Experience:
7–10 years in manufacturing or production environments, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role overseeing both production and quality functions.
Other Key Requirements
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Quality metrics, on-time delivery, cost control, and continuous improvement initiatives with measurable improvements each quarter.
Main Interfaces to Other Departments:
- Supply Chain & Procurement:
Coordinate material availability and vendor quality compliance. - Engineering:
Collaborate on process design, equipment maintenance, and technical problem-solving.
