Sofidel America, a subsidiary of the Sofidel Group, is a leading manufacturer of paper products globally. The Duluth location is undergoing rapid expansion. This role is non-exempt and follows a 12-hour rotating shift schedule. The starting pay is $27.72 per hour.
The Forklift Operator is responsible for performing material handling tasks within the warehouse to support finished product shipping and warehouse activities as directed by the Finished Goods Warehouse Supervisor. This role involves storing, staging, loading, and ensuring accuracy of the Finished Goods Warehouse. The position supports Sofidel’s Employee Personal Practice Policy. Ideal candidates are local to the Twin Ports region, highly organized, and comfortable in a team-based environment.
Responsibilities- Maintain PIT driving certification for single forks, double-wide, box-clamp, roll-clamp, and any other application as necessary.
- Conduct and maintain regular forklift inspections per requirements. Complete mandatory logs and documents to remain compliant.
- Have in-depth knowledge of the HU label process.
- Stage loads, print & apply product labels, and verify all loads against loading documents.
- Monitor scanner, daily adjustments, stock levels, and accuracy of goods in stock.
- Understand ERP software, system, and procedures.
- Assist with monthly inventory counts with the warehouse team.
- Follow all safety regulations and legal documentation norms pertaining to warehousing.
- Support Sofidel America’s Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP to promote a safe, sanitary and hygienic workplace.
- Perform or assist with operations as required to maintain workflow and meet schedules and quality requirements. Notify manager of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional material and supplies.
- Maintain a safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules; keep the area clean and maintained.
- Participate in meetings and work groups to communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and stay informed on developments, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Associates Degree or high school diploma with a minimum of two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency with Excel; exposure to SAP or MRP system preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, shipping/warehouse and inventory requirements, operating and maintenance instructions, and quality and procedure manuals.
- Basic math skills across units of measure (add, subtract, multiply, and divide).
- Commitment to safety; willingness and ability to learn equipment operations.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment; high initiative and drive.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Lift/Carry Requirements:
- Stand — Occasionally 10 lbs or less
- Walk — Occasionally 11-20 lbs
- Sit — Frequently 21-50 lbs
- Handling/Fingering — Frequently 51-100 lbs
- Reach Outward — Frequently over 100 lbs (not applicable to some roles)
- Reach Above Shoulder — Occasionally
- Push/Pull, Climb, Crawl, Bend — Varied frequency with corresponding weight limits

Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when in the plant and warehouse areas. PPE includes safety shoes, eye and ear protection, reflective vests, and hairnets or hats, along with any other necessary protection. Temperatures in the plant/warehouse can vary seasonally. Employees may be exposed to paper dust and noise requiring hearing protection.
